Verizon LG Versa-Video
I found a nice video review of the LG Versa that a I wrote about a couple of weeks ago. You can see the CNET video below. It’s short and to the point. About 2:25 in length.

Verizon LG Versa
The LG Versa is a unique and well-designed phone being offered now by Verizon. I haven’t had a chance to put my hands on one yet but it looks like a nice phone. It was release March 1, 2009 and is expected to retail for $200.
Alltel Blackberry Curve
I finally got rid of the old Motorola Razr. It was a good reliable phone but I had used for a couple of years and I was ready for a change. I went with the Alltel Blackberry Curve 8330. My wife had been using one for about 3 months and she really liked it. I was a little hesitant to switch to the Alltel Blackberry because I was concerned about my fat fingers on that little keyboard. However, surprisingly, I have not had any problems adapting to it at all. I am starting to get the hang the device. I have set up my email to come to the phone and that is working out great. The display screen is bigger than the Pearl and I have not had any problems reading it. I also like being able to get on the Internet and check sports scores, check the weather, look for restaraunts, and read my favorite blogs!
The Land Line is Gone!
Got rid of the land line about a month ago. Have I missed it? No, not even for a minute. I did have to change my phone number in a few places but that only took a couple of minutes. You should try it! Unless you have to have a land line you can save yourself some nice change every month! My wireless service is through Alltel and we have great coverage in my area. I have had at least 8 or 10 different people tell me in the last few months that they have ditched the land line in favor of wireless. What about you?
Do You Have A Land Line At Home?
I live in rural area. Not out in the middle of nowhere but a few miles outside of a small town. My local telephone company provides my DSL internet service because the cable company will not service my home. I live about one quarter of a mile from the highway down a paved road and they will not run a line. Thank goodness for satellite.
Anyway, up until just recently you had to pay for the home phone service to get the DSL high speed internet. Now, you can drop your home phone and still keep the high speed internet service. I know there are a lot of people doing this, going cell phone only, but for some reason I’m a little hesitant. I’m not sure why. I get no calls on my land line. Everyone who needs to talk to me calls me on the cell phone. It’s probably an emotional attachment of some sore.
I’m seriously considering this. Has anyone else done this? Is the wireline really dead? What was your experience?
If you want a little more in depth I found a nice article here.

Stolen Alltel Cell Phones Likely Bound for Foreign Soil
Just a quick follow-up on the Alltel phones stolen from a Fort Smith Arkansas warehouse last week. Industry experts have said the most likely destination for the stolen phones is South America or parts of Asia. Many of these countries also use a CDMA network as does Alltel. Each of the stolen phones has an electronic serial number that can be picked up by Alltel, IF the phone is activated on the Alltel network. This is not likely to happen as authorities believe the phones will end up in foreign countries. It is also believed that the phonese were taken by a well organized gang that steals large quantities of electronics. It is believed the group already had a buyer lined up before the heist was made.
Alltel Ripped Off!
Apparently thieves work on holidays. Over the Labor Day weekend an Alltel warehouse was hit and 4 semi-trailer’s of alltel cell phones were stolen. According to statement from police officers the average value of the stolen phones was $200 dollars and 4 truckloads were taken! Wow! Alltel is slated to be bought out by Verizon in January 2009 in a $28 billion dollar buyout.
Could this be an inside job? The alarm system was disabled and apparently the thieves knew the warehouse would be unguarded.
